This was not my favorite way to spend an afternoon, trust me, but to back up something I said in an earlier post (to wit: the opportunity to fully implement "Surprise" into business remains untapped), I did the perfunctory Google search on the word.
There were over 260 million search results.
I combed through more than 1,000 pages of 'em.
And while I learned a lot about gifts, about the town of Surprise, Arizona (which slurped up most of the web's best surprise URLs), about Kinder Surprise (the European chocolate egg with the toy inside), about surprise parties and about improv comedy troupes, I learned nothing about how Surprise works in marketing and why business needs it.
That's my job, I guess.
I thought I was into something before.
Now, I am sure of it.
