Great article about the
fall of the sports dynasty in this weekend’s Windsor Star. In it, Bob Duff makes the argument that the
concept of one dominant team winning championships year after year after year
is history. He explains that the World
Series was won by seven different teams over the same number of years and that
the Yankees, the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Red Wings, all powerhouses
in their respective sports throughout last season, made early exits in the
playoffs.
And he stresses that this is a good thing. Chalk one up for the folks at Surprise Central. This from his piece:
"I think any time you can go to a sporting event and not know the outcome of the game, it adds to the excitement. These days, that most every time you go. There are no guarantees, even when the games mean the most."
