A little package caused a really big stir this week.
Artist Frank Cipra took some time out from designing NHL goalie masks and sent along the first prototype of my designer hearing aid concept first discussed here about two weeks ago.
In a unanimous vote of approval, just about everyone who saw it flipped out, from my co-workers to my friends to my family. Even some folks with perfect hearing looked at it in envy, coveting the effect of a growling skull poking out of one's ear.
Also got an update from jeweler David Maidor, who is working out the gold shell and trying to ensure that the precious metal won't interfere with the precious operation of the electronics inside.
The Cipra model gets shipped to Nick Laperle at Sonomax on Monday to insert the hardware, but I wanted to give you a peek below before it hits the road.
Man, even if it doesn't work, it's so cool I may STILL decide to wear it...
