I remember when I got my showbiz start years ago touring Howie Mandel, I got to meet one of the members of the Busch family (we were opening the tour in St. Louis, and Budweiser was our sponsor). One of the things he said candidly of his iconic magna-brand stuck with me to this day:
"It may not be the best beer. But we sure do sell the most of it."
Which brings me to the Burton company. The same may be said about their snowboards. Hard-core riders may swear by more independent brands, but nobody sells more boards or gear than Jake Burton's Vermont-based, industry pioneer.
Reason why? The company's design and branding never fail to inspire and Surprise. Even when they are toned down, they are audacious.
Case in point is the Burton shirt my son Aidan was wearing over the weekend (that's it above). Nice...but kinda traditional and standard.
Until you look at the buttons, that is.
Well done, Burton-ites!
