Giving and hanging...two of my favorite things.
And now, brought together by a brilliant concept called "Timeraising."
By giving, I mean to charity, and by hanging, I mean the death penalty. I kid, I kid...I, of course, mean hanging art, which makes this series of events so special.
As its site says, Timeraisers are:
"Part volunteer fair, part silent art auction and part night on the town where, rather than money, you bid
a number of hours you are willing to volunteer for an agency of your choice."
Like other auctions, you bid what you can afford (or usually a little more once you get caught up in the moment); maximum bid is 150 hours, and you have a year to carry out your pledge. Once done, there's a big party where those who delivered the goods are given the merchandise.
In a world of dull, too-much-of-the-same fundraisers (trust me, 'cuz if I ain't attending them, I'm hosting them), the Timeraising concept packs a much-needed punch of Pow!
