One Pow! is easy. But as I stress and keep stressing, the real power of Surprise is generating a flow of 'em. That's what keeps people interested, what keeps them coming back for more, and most importantly, what keeps them buying.
One of my favorite examples of Pow!, one that I use in all my Surprise speeches, is that of Diamond Shreddies (see above, then read the original post here). This is near perfect, so how do you top it? Most companies would've shied away from the challenge, but not the folks at Post Cereals, who have taken the joke one brilliant step further with this:
But hurry! This Combo Pack (two-thirds diamond and one-third square) is only on sale for the proverbial "Limited Time Only."
Until people like Jen Martin and other folks at Strategic Objectives working on the Diamond Shreddies account top themselves.
Again.
