Tonight starts Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish Calendar, where Jews atone--and are forgiven--for their sins, and are acknowledged for their good deeds.
My friend Andy Sernovitz can chalk one up in the latter category for this endeavor.
He's putting on a conference about big-company blogging and social media, and has given away a bunch of tickets to benefit different charities.
Now he may not raise a ton of money this time around, but it seems that perhaps Andy's onto something that could be shared by all conference promoters: not only could they auction off some tickets for charity's sake, but perhaps the buyer (or seller) could match the tickets (a la Tom's Shoes) and give them away to a student or non-profit organization that could benefit big-time from the learning but may not be able to afford the entry price.
That's my good deed for the day. And now, starvation.
